FAQ

Becoming an Egg Donors

Why egg donation is needed?

There are many reasons why a woman is unable to conceive a child using her own eggs, such as she may not have enough healthy eggs due to her physical conditions, and she may not have eggs at all due to some diseases.

How long the egg donation process will take?

The entire process probably takes about 2-3 months, including egg donor matching-up, preliminary medical screening, legal documents preparation, and a 2-week stimulation phase.

Are there any risks of egg donation?

One of the potential risks is overstimulation (OHSS). The symptoms include weight gain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, etc. Other risks includes cramping, bleeding, etc.

What does the preliminary medical screening include?

This typically includes an ultrasound, a blood test and an FDA test. In the meanwhile, the egg donor will be arranged for a psychological consultation and a genetic test.

Why an egg donor needs to do psychological screening?

Psychological consultation is part of the preliminary screening because the donors need to start her cycle with a healthy and positive attitude.

Choosing an Egg Donor

What is the next step after I select a donor?

Could I meet the donor if I am interested in her?

Mostly, the donor is considered anonymous. We will talk to the donor to discuss the possibility if you are interested in meeting her.

Could I get a repeat donor’s previous cycle results?

Yes, we will let you know the information regarding a previous donor’s cycle.

How do I know if the eggs are retrieved from the donor I selected?

We will take photos and/or short videos while we accompany the donor to her appointments. In addition, your and the donor’s passport pages will be kept on file by the lawyer.

I have been working with AEDB as a donor. It is an amazing experience to be an egg donor here. This is my 2nd time to be a donor but definitely will work with AEDB next time. The stuff is really helpful and nice. And they have a case manager to follow up everything. If you want to be an egg donor, I highly recommend AEDB as your agency.

I am an oversea IP who needs a translator. I should say AEDB provides the best services here. They are always reachable and help me coordinate everything. During the IVF cycle they provide me all the information I need and also help me look for a really good surrogate mother. AEDB is like a family member to me, they make my dream come true. I will always be grateful for the help AEDB has gave me.
